That Makes Me SO Mad!!

One of my favorite Camden sayings is, one time when she was quite little, one of our cars was getting towed away for mechanical reasons, and as the tow truck drove down the street with the car, Camden said, "That makes me SO mad!" :-) That's kind of how I'm feeling today. Today pretty much stinks, and it's only 3:30. First of all, it stinks that Stryder is out-of-commission. When I got home from class today, the tow truck guy was there waiting, and we took Stryder over to the car place. He will be there for an unknown amount of time while they diagnose the problem and figure out what needs to be done. And, with how things are going today, I'm afraid it's going to be something really expensive.

The next thing that stinks is that I had gotten a financial statement saying that we had overpaid the university $94 when we paid my school fees this semester, so I went to get that checked out, and oh, instead of EIU owning me $94, surprise--I owe them $474 more than we already paid for this semester because they had estimated my graduate assistantship amount as being $474 more than it actually was. :-(

Then, I went to the graduate lab to get some work done before coming to work for Dr. Hardeman, and Kristen insisted that I watch this stupid thing about Mitt Romney on the internet. I told her that I didn't want to see it, but she said, "It will make you glad that he dropped out!" I said, "No, nothing can make me glad that he dropped out." She turned it on anyway, even though I told her I didn't want to see it, and she, Catherine, and Alisha were laughing really hard at all of the dumb stuff the guy on the TV clip was saying. I think they're used to me just going along with their jokes and being good-natured about everything, but I was in no mood to be good-natured. When the dumb TV guy started making fun of Mitt's belief in God, that was it for me. I said, "You guys, this is stupid. Turn it off." They were all in shock that I would say something that forward. I said, "I think it's cool that he believes in God and isn't afraid to say it." They all sat there kind of stunned, and then Kristen started going off on some tangent about how there has to be separation of church and state, and then Alisha piped in that George Bush pretends to believe in God but doesn't really. I was soooooooooo tempted to say something about how she's the one who pretends to believe in whatever god her boyfriend tells her to believe in, but I bit my tongue on that one. Kristen said, "Well, we all thought that TV clip was funny." I said, "Well, I didn't." (And I thought to myself, "Of course you all thought it was funny because you're a bunch of crazy liberal people," but I didn't say that out loud either.) So, now everyone is a little mad at me and they think I'm a fanatic religious Republican freak, but I don't care. Sometimes the compadres make me SO mad!!

Lastly, the weather stinks today. It is SO COLD outside! I walked over to school from the car place, and even though I was all bundled up, I still couldn't feel my face or my hands or feet when I came inside. And, it's only going to get worse. Tonight we're supposed to have freezing rain, sleet, and snow. Normally, weather like this would make me really excited for spring to come next month, but Greg reminded me yesterday that here in Illinois, spring means tornado season. Rats! Oh well, I am glad that this week is Abe Lincoln's birthday and Valentine's Day!! So surely things will be better after today. Speaking of Abe Lincoln, he wasn't afraid to talk about God, and people generally didn't think he was crazy for doing so.
