Today is Angie's 30th birthday! We decided that it would be fun to have some birthday burritos for lunch, but since Angie and Matt are leaving for New York tomorrow, she had tons of stuff to do today, so I went and picked up the burritos, then we ate them at the WJ house. There is this new taco place over in Vidalia (across the river from Natchez) called Taco Del Mar. They have something called the Mondo Burrito--which is a burrito you can build yourself--kind of like a sandwich at Subway. The Mondo Burrito is GIGANTIC, so thankfully they also had a Mondito Burrito which is a smaller version of the Mondo. Even the Mondito Burrito was plenty big, and neither Angie and I could finish our whole burrito. Angie is excited for the New York trip--she and Matt are going to Cooperstown to see Cal Ripken Jr. be inducted into the baseball hall of fame (they are big Orioles fans), and then they're going to travel around the area and visit some national parks. I will take care of their kitties while they're gone, so I'll have some fun trips up to Vicksburg. They're even going to leave the fridge all stocked for me!
This afternoon Tim and I went for a hike over at the Ratcliffe's farm. They have this really cool 3,000 acre farm about 20 miles outside of Natchez. That is the place where Mr. Charles Everette Ratcliffe (Miss Betty's husband) grew up. They grow trees out there and then sell the lumber. They also rent the farm out as a hunting camp during hunting season. Tim and I had a good time wandering around and exploring in the woods. We came across this really old truck that said "Ratcliffe Farms" on the side of it. I took some pictures that I'll have to post tomorrow. It was the perfect Mississippi country scene--the old rusty truck with wood piled on the back, out in the middle of a meadow. We also saw some wild turkeys, big hawks, and came across a cool, old bridge that went over a little stream. It was really pretty out there! Well, I'm off to the store to look for a birthday present for Abby Wesselman. She's turning 13 tomorrow and has invited me to her birthday party. It's been a long time since I went to a 13-year-old's birthday party! :-) It should be very fun though.
