Look--we have our own Mississippi River Delta! Can you guess which picture is the real Mississippi Delta and which is the cornfield by my apartment? The one there on the top does kind of look like the Mississippi River going into the Gulf of Mexico, doesn't it? Now you know why they grow so much corn here--because it likes to grow in thick, black mud like that. The sun finally came out today after a number of gray, rainy days, and everyone seemed to be in a much better mood. It's supposed to be kind of rainy again tomorrow and Friday, but on Saturday rumor has it that it will be sunny and 61 degrees--perfect weather.
Today was very relaxing compared to yesterday. I slept in and got things done around here in the morning, then went to campus this afternoon and worked with Dr. Hardeman for a while. He had a judiciary committee hearing today to determine if some girls harboring marijuana at their apartment should be kicked out of school. They decided to let the girls stay because no one could really prove that they actually had marijuana. Then, I had to run over to Mattoon with Dan to take the final photograph for the exhibit. It was a photo we had already taken, but the previous photo was taken on a gray day and didn't look "pretty," so we had to go back and take it again on a nice day. At least we're all finished taking exhibit photos now. Which is a good thing since the exhibit opens in 17 days! All of a sudden it seems like time is going by at a ridiculously fast pace.
Today Mom and I also had to track down a package she had sent to me which supposedly arrived on Saturday, but it wasn't in my mail box, and no one had seen it. Thankfully the post office there in Orem got on the case and contacted the post office here in Charleston. Then the post office guy here came over to Campus Pointe and found that my package had been put in the wrong mail box, so he put it in my and Aly's mail box. Aly called me this afternoon to say that my package had arrived but it was stuck in our mail box. So when I returned home this evening I went into the mail room and was tugging at the package. The problem was that the front of the mail box is smaller than the actual box itself, so it wouldn't come out. I soon realized that the front of the entire panel of 30 mail boxes was loose, so I tugged some more, and then the whole front popped open! I was then able to remove my package with ease, and then I closed the front of all the mail boxes :-) I guess that if you can't get your mail out, the solution is to just pull off the front of the mail box.
