Today was a great day in many ways. Not only did it start off with a fun bridal shower with our ward and Mountain View friends, but the BYU football team absolutely obliterated UCLA!!! 59-0! Now that's a statement. That is the definitive win that BYU needed to turn some heads and catch the attention of people all across the nation. That is the worst loss UCLA has had since 1929! Now that's what I'm talkin' about. That was a sweet game.
Now, back to today's very fun bridal shower. Here I am opening Mom's present--a Virginia cookbook and Winterthur recipe card holder! Thank you Mom! We had a great time today. Yevon Romney was so very nice to host the shower at her house. She is a hostess extraordinaire, and she prepared a wonderful brunch for everyone. (We had the shower early so as not to interfere with the BYU game.) Thank you for the wonderful morning, Yevon!
Today's shower included people from our ward here as well as my favorite high school teachers who also happened to be my volleyball coaches. Here I am with Dana Reay--our across-the-street neighbor and Kathleen Carlile--one of my business teachers and volleyball coaches at Mountain View.
Here I am with another of my former business teachers and coaches: Stefani Knaupp. It was so nice of them to come today! My volleyball years were definitely some of the most formative of my life, and I'm glad that I've been able to remain friends with my wonderful coaches over the years.
And you will of course recognize these cute shower attendees! Cam and Riles love breakfast food, so they were in heaven with the delicious sweet rolls, breakfast casserole, and fresh fruit that Yevon prepared.
We had a drop-in shower, so that made it nice because we didn't have huge crowds all at once (until the end), and we could spend time and visit with everyone. Here I am on my second helping of tasty food while Susan Allen is enjoying one of Carolyn Kuehne's many funny stories. :-) Part of the shower today was collecting recipe cards, and Carolyn and Sue Jane McQueen brought the same recipe. The difference was, Sue Jane's said: "fill crock pot with chicken," and Carolyn's said: "shove as much chicken as you can into the pot." :-) Also, Sue Jane's said that the recipe would feed 10-12 people. Carolyn's said that it would feed "a plethora of people." She's so funny.
Lindy took many fun pictures today--thanks for doing that and for being there the whole time, Lind! Here I am with cute Yevon and cute Mom. The three of us are great buddies. It was wonderful to see everyone today, and I am looking forward to next week's shower that we'll have at our house for the grandmas, sisters, nieces, aunts, cousins, friends from our previous ward, former roommates, and some of my favorite Institute and BYU professors. Good times will surely be had by all. And thank you everyone for heeding the unwritten (but understood) Taylor bridal shower law of not giving the typical gross bridal shower gifts--only useful, practical, and non-embarrassing gifts. :-)Now changing gears a bit, scroll down to see some funny (in a ridiculous and scary kind of way) Obama movies.
