The vote is in: 114 "Yes" and 1 "No" to impeach Blago!!!!!!! Some goof named Milton Patterson voted "No." But it doesn't matter because Blago is now officially impeached and on his way out of office. Hooray!! This is a wonderful day. I just watched the Blago impeachment hearing online, and it was splendid. It was like watching a happy movie. The state legislators were LAMBASTING the governor right and left. My favorite quote was from Representative Susana Mendoza who, surprisingly, is a Democrat from Chicago. She said, "Rod Blagojevich is an anathema to honor." Word of the day: anathema. What does it mean?
Anathema: (ə-ˈna-thə-mə) Derived from a Greek word meaning curse or thing devoted to evil.
1 a) one that is cursed by ecclesiastical authority; b) someone or something intensely disliked or loathed;
2 a) a ban or curse solemnly pronounced by ecclesiastical authority and accompanied by excommunication; b) the denunciation of something as accursed; c) a vigorous denunciation.
The Senate will meet later this month to have some hearings, and then they will be the ones to officially remove him from office. I'm sure Blago will find some way to drag out the process as long as possible, but this is one giant leap in the right direction. Hooray for justice! What was the governor doing during his impeachment hearing? He went for a jog. So now he can just keep on joggin'--right out of office!
